About the New York Open

Founded in 1982, The New York Open is one of the best and toughest Judo competitions in the western hemisphere including Olympians and world champions. This "B" level tournament sanctioned by USA Judo awards sizable cash prizes to each division winner. The 2006 New York Open Judo Championship welcomed 144 competitors representing 23 countries including the United States (Olympic Team), Brazil, Canada, Japan, Korea, France, Germany, Poland, United Kingdom, Israel, Ukraine, Tajikistan, and Senegal.
